In a new MUNK Policy Report, Mobility and Proximity in Canada During the Covid 19 Pandemic, Professor Anita McGahan explores how restrictions on mobility and social proximity led to changes in industry structures, competitive advantages, and remote work. Professor McGahan, University Professor, Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, and a Professor of Strategic Management at the Rotman, collaborated with several researchers from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and the Rotman School of Management to examine the implications for organizational design of changes in mobility and proximity that arise from the pandemic. The project was inspired and motivated by our report early in the pandemic on how Canadians had maintained social distance even as mobility restrictions lifted. The team is now seeking to understand the permanence of these changes, and their implications for economic activity.
