Ramesh Pokharel

Postdoctoral Fellow, Mobility Network

Ramesh is the 2022-2024 Mobility Network Post-Doctoral Fellow. His research interests are transport planning and policy, urban and regional development, regional inequality, the wider economic benefit of transport infrastructure, economic geography, and system thinking.

Ramesh obtained his PhD in urban and regional planning at the University of Amsterdam, focused on transport investment and regional economic development. He completed his master’s degree at the University of Tokyo.

Ramesh has worked as an academician, planner, and engineer. He was a lecturer in Nepal at Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, and a transportation planner at Nepal’s Ministry of Transport, where he contributed to creating a national transport policy. He has more than eight years of professional working experience in infrastructure management as an engineer. He also writes op-ed articles on infrastructure development issues.
