Thiago Silva is a Professor of Computer Science on leave from his home university in Brazil to join the team at the University of Toronto’s School of Cities. His passion lies in using computational power to decode the complex puzzle of urban living. Through data mining and user behavior modeling, he works to understand the hidden rhythms of cities, from how people move to how they interact with their environment. His academic journey has been a global one, with formative research experiences in the UK, France, Italy, and Brazil, and a previous visiting position at U of T. These experiences have shaped his belief that strong research contributions on urban systems come from collaborative and international perspectives.
