Parks in Action: Towers, Hubs and Opens Space Transformations

By Fadi Masoud and Victor Perez-Armando
June 2023

The “Parks in Action” exhibition and website highlight the role of parks, open spaces, and the public realm in fostering climate action in Toronto’s inner suburbs. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate how climate action in the public realm is generative of participatory design and social engagement—from the scale of small local installation “hubs” to “tower communities” along urban watersheds. Central to this work is the link between social equity and climate adaptation—ensuring that all communities, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds, have equal access to green spaces and their benefits.

An accompanying website outlines key visual and spatial interactive analyses. Visuals available on the website include detailed 3D Models of ten community climate action hubs, over seventy detailed maps of parks across the city, and various city-wide maps that spatially analyze various factors in relation to public spaces in Toronto.
