Join the School of Cities for the year-end showcase of the 2023/2024 Multidisciplinary Urban Capstone Project (MUCP), International Multidisciplinary Urban Capstone Project (IMUCP), Graduate Fellows and other School of Cities initiatives.

Throughout the year, 94 undergraduate students from across U of T’s campuses and faculties have been hard at work, tackling pressing urban issues with community partners throughout Canada, the United States, and India. The culmination of their work is this upcoming poster showcase, in which each group will have the opportunity to share their work with peers, faculty, and interested community members. 

In addition, this event will also showcase the work of the 2023/24 Graduate Fellows Cohort. Throughout the year these fellows have been producing creative knowledge mobilization products, all entered into a competition. This event will see the winners of this event announced for the first time!

The School of Cities and Urban Studies Community Exhibition will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd from 5-7pm, in the Music and Debates rooms in Hart House (7 Hart House Circle, U of T)There will be food, a cash bar, and a student at the Hart House piano!  

The showcase is a great opportunity to connect with members of the School of Cities and our community partners, and to see multidisciplinary work-community collaboration in action.

In this session, Professor Ai Taniguchi will discuss findings from her Language, Identity, Multiculturalism and Global Empowerment (L’IMAGE) Project. In this session, you will learn how students view language as their “home” and an anchor of their identities, especially when they have been displaced from their physical “home” or otherwise have a difficult relationship with it.

Knowledge Café: Improving accessible taxi services for drivers and disabled riders

Having reliable access to transport is crucial to people’s ability to participate in everyday life. Drivers play a central role in providing accessible transit and paratransit services. They can facilitate people’s transport and mobility or cause them to experience inequitable and exclusionary transport. For this reason, we conducted a study guided by two research questions: “What issues are disabled riders experiencing when using accessible taxis?”, and “What are the experiences and behaviours of accessible taxi drivers?”.
